Those lyrics from Kiss Me, Kate—though I’ve actually never seen that musical—usually start going through my head about this time. Tonight marks the opening of our theater company’s summer musical—yay! And yikes!
Unexpected challenges and curveballs always seem to hit when you’re putting on a theater production (well, why should this part of life be any different?), and we encountered several at our final dress rehearsal last night—from a sound curfew in the neighborhood of our theater which we weren’t aware of, to sore throats, colds, and coughs among our persevering cast, to interfering local radio waves messing with our sound system.
It’s comforting to remember what show we’re doing—a Broadway musical based on the biblical story of Joseph, one of the most powerful examples of how God can turn incredible trials into amazing good. We are believing He will do that for us as well as we go forward trusting Him.
If you think of it today, pray for Showlights Theater…a little company seeking to show the light of a big God.
Now I’ve got to go get ready to put on a show! 🙂
