One of the many blessings I’ve discovered through joining American Christian Fiction Writers is the chance to connect with other Christian novelists. It’s amazing how much you can get to know, help, learn from, and network with each other online before ever meeting in person. One day last fall, one of these writers commented on my blog–in Navajo. That got my attention!
What a blessing it has been since to connect with Jennifer Major, a bilagáana (white person) like me who also has a burden to write about the Diné people as she walks alongside and learns from friends of the First Nations of this land. I’ve been so touched and inspired by her heart for justice and passion against the lack of it. In her novel, she delves into one of the most tragic periods of Navajo (and American) history, one I only touch on in my story–the Long Walk.
I had hoped to tag Jennifer in last week’s Blog Hop, but wasn’t able to connect with her until after I posted–so we decided to do another installment this week! Please head over now to Tales from the Redhead and read about Jennifer’s powerful novel and the journey that has brought it about!
